Christmas Cheer is in the Air!

Christmas cheer is in the air and soon after that, the end to what has been a very difficult year for many of us will finally be over. In the meantime, there are still some things you can do to make sure that your holiday is full of warmth (literally), so here are a few helpful tips to help you stay warm and safe this holiday season and well into the New Year:

Have your HVAC unit(s) serviced ASAP

To keep your HVAC units operating safely and efficiently, it is a good idea to have them regularly checked out or serviced by experts to ensure that they are operating at their level best. Wright Propane has experts that can do just that, so call us so we can send someone out to put you at ease. (We also sell new units if it turns out that yours is in need of replacing.)

Change the furnace filters

Before the heater starts to fire for the chilly season, take a look at the furnace filters and put in new ones if you have not been doing this on a regular or routine basis. Most HVAC manufacturers recommend replacing filters every 90 days or so, or even more often if you reside in a dry or dusty environment. Filters in a variety of sizes can easily be found at your local hardware store, so do this today to keep the air in your house cleaner and to ease the strain on your HVAC system caused by dirty filters.

Protect pipes from freezing

With just a little bit of money, you can cover or wrap your exposed water pipes and outside hose bibs with insulating material to keep them from freezing and potentially rupturing on cold winter nights. Foam pipe covers and insulating wrap can be found at your local hardware store, so get some of these items when you go to pick up your furnace filters!

Sweep the chimney!

If you have a wood-burning fireplace, or even if you don’t, it is wise to check the chimney each season to make sure smoke and/or gas does not enter the house from cracks or openings that may have occurred over time. As many of you know, propane or natural gas fireplaces do not give off much smoke when they are operating. However, proper ventilation from burning gas is still very important.

As such, if you see smoke escaping or smell gas, give your local gas company or us a call immediately so we can investigate the leak to make sure that you and your household remain safe and sound.

All of us at Wright Propane wish you a happy and healthy Holiday and New Year!
